- How to cut a fitted shot dress
- Firstly draft the pattern of the dress out
- Sketch the pattern of the dress in a brown paper.
- How to take the measurements of the pattern
Fold the brown paper into 2,
take the measurements of ur half lent I’ll be using 15,u will measure it 15 inch with 1 inch allowance.
Take the back measurements,I’ll be using 16 divide it by 2 which is 8 no allowance
From the shoulder measure 9 inch for the arm o,then chalk it out
Come down to ur bust part,I’ll be using 32 divide it by 4 that’s 8 then chalk it out 2inch allowance
The waist part I’m using 26 divided by 4 that’s 6 and half then chalk it out. That’s for the front half len
- The back half lent
fold ur brown paper into 2 and place the front part of the fabric u’ve cut place it on it then remove 1 inch from the back part for ur zip allowance,then u it to cut it out.
- The neck part.
- Note: the front neck must be more wilder than the back.
The front cutting depends on the style u want.eg(round neck,4 corner neck, V neck) depending on ur style.
I’m using round neck
I’m cutting from the breath side is 4 the length also 4 and cof it out with my chalk.that’s for the front part
For the back I’m using 1 inch for the length and for the breath I’m using 4 inch then I’ll cut it out.
That’s for the up part of the shot dress.
The down part measure from ur half lent to where ever u want ur short dress to be 25.i know u will be wondering how I got my 25.my short lent is 40 I subtract 15 out of 40 and the remaining is 25 and I added my allowance 2inch.
So u will measure 25 from ur half lent and ur waist is 26 divided by 4 add 2inch allowance this is for the under bust measurement
Then for the normal waist is 29 this one is close to ur hips
Divided by 4 that’s 7.25 and add ur 2 inch for allowance
Then ur hips I’m using 40 for the hips divided by 4 and add 2 inch allowance then chalk and cut it out
For the back side
Fold ur fabric into 2nd place the front uve cut out place it on the one u fold and lay it well, remove an inch out of it for the zip allowance chalk and cut it out.
The slive part depending on how u want it to be either long, shot, big or little
I’ll be adding another fabric for the slive
The length I’m using is 22 and 2 inch allowance
Then the round slive is15 divided by 2,plus allowance 5 inch cos it won’t be feted I want it to be pof hand and cu it out.
Using the brown paper to cut the material
Make sure u fold ur material in to 2 before cutting it out.
- Make sure u add extra allowance to it cos of the cutting.
- How to cut the lyning
The way u fold out the dress before cutting is the way u will fold out the lyning before placing the cut fabric and make sure the lyning is more smaller than the main fabric
Eg: if ur fabric is as long as 20 inch u must allow the lyning to be at least 18&17 inch.
- While done cutting make sure every of ur sewing include lroning
